Wal-Mart Questions FPL Rate Hike Proposal

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – Wal-Mart and a group of major power users have raised questions about whether proposed hikes by Florida Power & Light are justified.
The state Public Service Commission on Monday formally the intervention of Wal-Mart Stores East, LP and the Florida Industrial Power Users Group into FPL’s regulatory request to increase base electricity rates.
In seeking to intervene, Wal-Mart and the group known as FIPUG filed brief petitions that indicated they dispute the proposed increases.
FPL is seeking about $1.34 billion in increases over three years, starting with an $866 million hike in 2017.
